Advanced Program Manager
After spending several months as a Beta Consultant I was asked to do a rotation in the Advanced Product Support group. The APS teams are a second tier technical support that interacts both with customers and other MicroStrategy technical support engineers. The APS teams are divided by product specialty and I was on the Server team, working with our Server products and also our API and SDK. The server application is accessed almost entirely through the proprietary, but open, API. Some functions not available in the standard graphical user interfaces are available with custom coding using the SDK. I attended internal training classes to become familiar with the SDK.
Also while on the APS team I began to use W2000 on a regular basis in addition to my existing experience with NT 4.0. I used MicroSoft Visual Studio to write a simple user application that would track time usage among many employee tasks. The documentation is available.
