The KoOlina Beach Club resort that I stayed at for the begining of my vacation.

My flight left around 10 am from Washington, Dulles International Airport (IAD) and I switched planes in Cincinnati for the remainder of the trip to Honolulu. The OH to HI leg of the trip is 9 hours and crosses 5 time zones. I had plenty of time for movies. I only remember watching the Hulk, which was pretty good until the plot fell apart at the end.

When I arrived I picked up my rental car and headed west to KoOlina where I had reservations. A friend of mine works at the Marriott front office here in DC and she hooked me up with a pretty good rate on a room at the KoOlina Beach Club Resort by Marriott. Before I got there I had to sit in rush hour traffic, since I arrived in Honolulu at 5PM ish. I checked in and looked around. The Beach Club isn't a social gathering place. It is in a new development area and most of the guests were couples (shocker) with a few families here and there.

My room had a small refrigerator and a wet bar so I decided the first order of business was to get some food. I got directions to Safeway and was back out to the highway a few miles down the road for some necessities. Typical bachelor stuff, canned vegetables, some V8, OJ, milk and cereal. Spending $15 at the store would save a bundle on food, since I didn't have to eat out the whole time I was on the south side of the Island. By the time I was back to my room it was after 8 pm and I was wiped out. I managed to watch West Wing, but fell asleep somewhere during Law & Order.
