Karl's Poetry

Pondering

At close of day

as eve draws nigh

I think upon my life.

How blessed I am

to look back now,

thou led me through my strife.

As life goes on

I look toward thee

and know if I repent

with gentle whispers in my heart

the righteous path I'll see.

I search thy word

my Lord, me God

I feel thy words ring true.

I read and ponder,

seek thy strength

yet know I must go do.

And as I read

I learn thy will

I follow and obey,

with obedience the blessings come,

often, calm and still.

P-Day

//by Karl Kowallis

2 Jan 1995 //

On top of old Flat Top

all covered with snow

an old man went hiking

despite frost and snow.

He carried a Bible.

He searched for the truth.

He'd looked for the true church

in days since his youth.

He'd read in the Bible

just seek and you'll find.

He'd climbed up to pray so

the Lord he could bind.

This man was quite patient.

He'd done this before.

God in His own time

would teach him some more.

He walked down the mountain

with faith in his heart.

Way down at the bottom

the Elders did start.

They laughed and they frolicked.

They climbed up the slope.

The old man moved slowly,

his heart full of hope.

They met on the mountain.

He greeted hello.

They talked and they chatted;

He said he must go.

They continued their hike up

the mountain of fame.

They realized together

they han't asked his name.

They went on not thinking

of what they did say.

They were relaxing

For it was P-Day.
